Title: Commander One - Compare Files
Post by: alex-swiftify on November 24, 2017, 10:26:50 AM
I would like to be able to compare 2 selected files by content, like in Total Commander, Double Commander, etc.
Should be as simple as allowing to pass 2 filenames to an external tool, i.e. `opendiff`.

Hello,

We appreciate your interest in Commander One software.
Our developers' team works on adding this function in Commander One and it will available later in updates.

Hello guys,

I would like to second request of Alex Swiftify. I came to request exactly the same thing and what are the odds Alex raised the topic earlier the same day.

P.S. Great software. Glad I found you guys - I have been missing a great Total Commander alternative and you are ahead of the competition. So close to the Totalcmd we all love. Keep up great doing great software.
And BTW, Black Friday package is awesome. Now back to work, guys :)

Yeah, definitely thanks (in advance) for the quick turnaround!
The UI of Commander One definitely looks way many times better than Double Commander, so looking forward to this one.
Keep up your great work!

I really need a way to quickly compare 2 files with any external diff tool. This is the only real problem that I have with Commander One. Everything else are just small issues.

Some diff tools have option to add files via services submenu after right click, and that usually works, but services menu doesn't work for external folders (sftp, webdav...) and I usually need to compare files on two different linux web servers or in two folders on same server.

This really slows my work and that's the only reason I hesitated to buy Commander One earlier.

Do you have any plans to add this feature in the near future?

There is no ETA when such a feature will be added in Commander One.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Another vote for compare files feature - but also at the folder level.  That is select a folder and compare all the files in it with files in another folder.

It is almost 4 years since Eltima declared that "our developers' team works on adding this function in Commander One and it will available later in updates" and comparing left and right windows is still missing.
It is a VERY important and should be simple to implement - just take one of tens (if not hundreds) of ready algorithms from GitHub (https://github.com/search?q=directory+diff) and add some UI so that the results can be visible in CO.
I really cannot understand why it is still not done.
If you need some money for it - just  publish a new paid extension, I (and many other users I presume) would be glad to pay for that.

We want to let you know that compare option is not supported by Commander One.
