Title: Swing Lib - ComboBox unable to just edit selected characters
Post by: raccoonwao on March 18, 2008, 08:24:11 AM
I can't selected a few characters in the ELComboBox and edit it.

Every time I type on the selected characters, it erase the old text and starts a new search right away.

What should I do?  Default select pattern could be assumed.

This is the way ELComboBox works in current version of Visual Java/SWING Components Library. This is provided by technical peculiarities of the product.

I believe your team make it purposely as, we could just set different Pattern to make the Combo display differently.

However, this is what I got from my users, they intuitively think the they could just highlight and edit the displayed result in the combo.  It sounds perfectly reasonable even to me when I tried the combo for the first time.

This takes me a week or two to explain the way it work to the users only resulting in questions of "why".

It will be perfect if your team could add the "highlight-and-edit" function.

Thanks
