Title: share hsdpa modem serial port
Post by: olev on August 18, 2008, 09:09:47 PM
Hi all,
On windows xp, using the "shared serial ports 2.0" trial, I have tried to share the com port connected to a hsdpa/gsm modem, so that I could use windows dial-up networking along with a program for sending sms messages.

When sharing the com-port, windows dial-up just reports that the com-port is already in use ( by serial ports sharing, I guess ).
When un-sharing the port, DUN works fine.

I thought it might be because the dial-up connection can't get hold of the control signals, but what program should I assign control to? rasdial?

Have I missed a point about this software? Any suggestions?

Please, be informed that during dial-up, the COM port opens the application: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe

Please try to share the COM port of the modem. After that, please open shared COM port by your application. Select the name of your application in the list of COM ports and enable "Allow reading", "Allow writing" and "Manage control lines", checkboxes.

Please re-open serial port to apply changes.
