Title: VSBsetup
Post by: daniela on January 29, 2010, 11:46:18 PM
I just got my VSPD OEM software.
I wrote a small windows application on my development computer and all works as expected.
I created an install program to try it out on a target computer.
The installation works fine however it seems, that when I run VSBsetup.exe
(according to the manual I have to run this program to install the driver evsbc.sys)
I will get an error message:
"VSBSetup.exe is not a valid WIN32 application"

What is wrong?

Dear Daniela,

We would recommend you to use vspdxp_install.exe for automatic installation: it will detect the OS version and install the needed driver.

OK, the vspdxp_install.exe does not work either.
The SW (example class.exe) works fine on the development computer.
I am using the Eltima example class.exe compiled on VC2005.
I copy all the sys, inf and cab files to the system32 on the target computer
Then I run vspdxp_install.exe
Your example class.exe does not work for whatever reason.
I tried several computers...

Now it gets strange...
When I install the OEM license on the target computer it suddenly works. Even after un-installing the OEM license the example still works.

Again, vspdxp_install.exe does NOT install the driver or whatever properly.

Am I doing something wrong?

Dear Daniela,

I have just replied to your email.

Here is the answer...
I did not realize, that the vspdxp_install.exe program looks for a very specific sub-directory like NT5 (in the case of XP)
With other words, placing the drivers and the install program into the same directory and running the install does NOT work.
May I suggest, that vspdxp_install outputs an error message, when the drivers are not found.
