Is there a componentised version of Virtual Serial Ports Driver for Windows XP Embedded such that installation and configuration of the components can be done using the "Target Designer"?

Please, be informed that there is no such version but just today our team tested Virtual Serial Ports Driver on Windows XP Embedded. It was installed successfully and worked fine.

Did you just install it on a Windows XP Embedded target using the CD, or did they create a component on the development PC and build the image and configuration?

I imagine (although not tried) that if installed directly on the device it will work fine. What I was trying to do was set it up as a component on the development machine by importing the 'inf' file and then configure it without user intervention being needed on the target, but it didn't work! Also couldn't find some of the "vserial" files on the install disk.

Probably doing something stupid, but it would be nice to know what they did to get it going under XPe.

We have reproduced the problem you reported. Please, be informed that we do not have Windows XP Embedded compatible component for creating VSP yet.  Please inform us whether we understand your usage scenario correctly. You are interested in quiet installation on client PCs.  Note that  only OEM licence for  Virtual Serial Port ActiveX Control offers  an opportunity of quiet installation.
