Virtual serial port driver installation and required reboots.(Read 8744 times)
Hello.

We are using the OEM version (v6.9.1.132) of the virtual serial port driver.  I am trying to determine if there is any situation in which a reboot would be required after the VSP driver is installed.  The documentation indicates that no reboot is required after installing or uninstalling the driver but we are occasionally seeing a dialog box appear after the installation of our NI LabWindows based application indicating that a reboot is necessary.  It's quite possible that the reboot dialog is being generated by National's installer so I am just trying to eliminate potential sources of the message.  Rebooting after installation is not a problem for our application but making sure that the installation process is properly documented for the end user is important.

Thanks.

Thank you very much for contacting us. We appreciate your concern.

A reboot request can be popped up by our driver installer if there is at least one virtual serial port created by one of our products ALREADY present on this system. Otherwise, our installer will never ask for rebooting. We can say for sure if you paste the screenshot of this message.
