MFC App Shutsdown on LogOff(Read 18867 times)
MFC App Shutsdown on LogOff on: November 21, 2008, 04:27:14 PM
I am running a MFC application set to interact with the WinLogon desktop and startup automatically.

My app launches when the machine boots up.
It keeps running when a user logs on.  You can not see my app because it is not on the active desktop, but if I ctrl-alt-del I can see it running.
When the user logs out my app shutsdown.

Is there a way to keep it running?

Hello Dave,

I regret to say that our testers are not able to reproduce the problem you described.

Please try to use ALT-TAB key combination to find your application after log off.

Thanks for the reply Tina.

I found out that when a user logs out the system sends the running applications messages that they will be shutdown soon and they should clean up. You can see this in the Notepad demo by type Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the WinLogon desktop and typing some text in the notepad window and then logging off.  Notepad sees that it will shutdown soon and asks to save the text.  My application is cleaning up in ExitInstance so it expected to be shutdown so it cleaned up all of it's resources etc..
