regsp.exe failure on Windows Server 2008 R2 - ActiveX Serial control (Read 7600 times)

I've got version 3.0 of the ActiveX Serial control and I'm trying to register sport.dll on Win Server 2008 R2.  We've always used regsp.exe to register the dll.

We've used this registration mechanism with no problems on WinXP, Win7 32-bit, Win7 64-bit, Server 2003, and probably even more flavors.

On Server 2008 R2 regsp.exe crashes with the message "MicroSoft Register Server has stopped working".

Anyone have any ideas?

Hello Dave,

Serial Port ActiveX Control 3 was released back in 2008 and is not supported anymore. If there were any bugs in SPAX 3 that result in the specified issue, chances are that they have long been fixed. The current version is 4.0.245.

To embrace all benefits of Serial Port ActiveX Control 4 please consider upgrading your license to the latest version. Please send us an e-mail to if you are interested.
