Unfortunately, the problem is not quite clear. Would you please specify the exact sequence of your actions and which response you receive from  the product. Please, specify your system's properties.

Please, specify the name of your utility. Can you send it to mailto:support@eltima.com for tests?

Dear Enzo,

Thank you for the information you provided.

I kindly ask you to provide us with the additional information. In what application do you open shared COM port? Would you be so kind to test, whether the problem occurs if you open the COM port in Hyperterminal.

Please, try to do the following:

1) Share the COM port;

2) Open the Device Manager;

3) Wait until "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open" device appears in the Eltima Shared Serial Ports section;

4) Open the COM port in the first application;

5) Please, check whether new "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open" device appears in the Eltima Shared Serial Ports section;

6) Open the COM port in the second application.

Please, enable "Manage control lines", for the second application.

Hello Tina,
i've done how you said:

1) Shared the Com Port ( COM6);

2) Opened the Device Manager;

3) Waited until "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open" device appears in the
   Eltima Shared Serial Ports section ( I can see it )

4) Launched the first application and opened the COM port;

5) Checked whether new "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open" device
   appears in the Eltima Shared Serial Ports section ( It appears)
   Also checked in the Sared Serial Ports Configuration and under
   COM6 I can see under Connected Applications:
   C:\EL5\EL5.exe ( It is the name and the path of the first application )
   Read/Write/-
   Data Sent:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   Data received: 0 bytes ( it remains to 0. Never increase )
   In the the Device Manager on the top of "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open",
   i can also read:
   "Serial Port "COM6" opened by "C:\EL5\EL5.exe (Pid: 1896)"

6) Launched the second Application and opened the COM port.
   checked in the Shared Serial Ports Configuration and under
   COM6 I can see under Connected Application, beside I said above:
   C:\MixW\Mixw2.exe ( It is the name and the path of the second application )
   Read/Write/-
   Data Sent:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   Data received:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   In the the Device Manager on the top of "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open",
   i can also read beside I said above:
   "Serial Port "COM6" opened by "C:\Mixw\Mixw2.exe (Pid: 2216)"

It worked all perfect now but did not enabled "Manage control lines", for the second application because did not understand how to do it. Continuing the test, I've reverted the operations. So I've done:

1) Closed the second application ( Mixw ), Disappeared from the Shared Serial Ports
   Configuration and from the Device Manager;

2) Closed the first application ( EL5 ) Disappeared from the Shared Serial Ports
   Configuration and from the Device Manager.Now in the Device Manager I have only:
   "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open".

3) Launched the second Application ( MixW ), the com port should be already opened;
   checked in the Shared Serial Ports Configuration and under
   COM6 I can see under Connected Application,I can read:
   C:\MixW\Mixw2.exe ( It is the name and the path of the second application )
   Read/Write/-
   Data Sent:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   Data received:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   In the the Device Manager on the top of "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open",
   i can also read:
   "Serial Port "COM6" opened by "C:\Mixw\Mixw2.exe (Pid: 964)"

4) Launched the first Application ( EL5 ), the com port should be already opened;
   checked in the Shared Serial Ports Configuration and under
   COM6 I can see under Connected Application,I can read beside I said above:
   C:\EL5\EL5.exe ( It is the name and the path of the first application )
   Read/Write/-
   Data Sent:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   Data received:... bytes ( where the ... are the bytes and they are incrementing )
   In the the Device Manager on the top of "Serial Port COM6 waiting for open",
   i can also read beside I said above:
   "Serial Port "COM6" opened by "C:\EL5\EL5.exe (Pid: 900)"

It still worked all perfect now but did not enabled "Manage control lines", for the second application because did not understand how to do it.
I have just resetted the pc.
Loaded the first application.Get no errors but the comunication between the com and The utility attached to the com did not work.
Lodeded the second application and got the application error that the COM Does not exist or is used by another application.
In the Shared Serial Ports application sometims I can see both application Under "Connected Applcations" and in Device manager, I can see:

Serial Port "Com6" opened by "C:\EL5\EL5.exe" (Pid: 3560) Serial Port "Com6" opened by "C:\MixW\MixW.exe" (Pid: 3528) Serial Port "Com6" waiting for open

When I open and close the applications I can hear the sound like when you plug an utility to the usb.
Some time i do not see anything neither in the Shared Serila Port Application and neiter in the Device Manager.
Any other help?
Thanks.
Enzo

Dear Enzo,

Please, set Automatic startup type for Eltima Serial Share Service:

Right click "My Computer" -> Manage -> Services And Applications -> Services -> right click "Eltima Serial Share Service" -> Properties -> General tab -> Startup Type -> set Automatic.

Hello Enzo,

Please, try to share another COM port.

I kindly ask you to download and install Advanced Serial Port Terminal: http://www.eltima.com/download/serial-port-terminal/

Would you be so kind to test whether the problem occurs if you open shared COM port in  Advanced Serial Port Terminal.

We will be waiting the test results from you.
