We are looking for a virtual serial port driver, which allows us to create virtual port connecting to a modem simulator.

Application <-> Virtual COM <-> Modem Simulator.

We need to control DCD, RI, CTS & DSR from the modem simulator and RTS, DTR from the application.
As I understand it, the Eltima Virtual serial port driver can be used to create virtual port pairs, and not individual ports (Reference http://wiki.eltima.com/user-guides/vspd.html).
Also, using the virtual ports created, the wiring scheme does not allow DCD of one terminal to be connected to the DCD of the remote, without connecting to any other signal. Is that correct ?

The solution from Eltima for this case is the Virtual Serial Port ActiveX Control (Reference http://wiki.eltima.com/user-guides/vsp-ax.html).

Please let me know if I have made my requirements clear, and if my understanding is right.

I guess those are the difference between with Active X and not. Everything you have mentioned will work perfectly in VSP-AX.
